Reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter (a division of Marsh McLennan) has produced its latest chart of its proprietary US property catastrophe Rate-On-Line ("ROL") index, showing that it has reached the highest level since 2019 following the 2022 mid-year US property catastrophe renewals.

This represents a rise of almost 15% since the beginning of this year and the biggest increase in the Guy Carpenter US property reinsurance ROL index since 2006 and 51% higher than the previous 2017 low point in 2017.

.

"Guy Carpenter’s US Property Catastrophe Rate-on-Line (ROL) index is a measure of the change in dollars paid for coverage year-on-year on a consistent program basis. The index reflects the pricing impact of a growing or shrinking exposure base, evolving methods of measuring risk and changes in buying habits, as well as changes in market conditions."
