Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

It is with great sadness that we learn that The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral.
Her Majesty visited Lloyd's on a number of occasions: 1952, 1986 and 2014. The last occasion was with His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh upon Lloyd's 325th anniversary. A YouTube video of their visit is available here.
Lloyd's rang the Lutine Bell in her honour this Friday morning - see video here on Hampden's LinkedIn page - which was followed by two minutes' silence.
On 12 September, John Neal, Lloyd's CEO, wrote: "While there will be many public and ceremonial events during this period, we at Lloyd’s, with our long association with royalty, will mark this important moment in our own unique way.
On Thursday 15 September 2022 at 11.30 BST, we will host a ceremony in the Underwriting Room to remember Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and to mark the accession of His Majesty King Charles III. The Lloyd's Choir will sing and the Lutine Bell will be rung twice to acclaim the King. The ceremony will be open to all Lloyd’s passholders and will provide an opportunity for our market and our friends across the City to come together to remember Her Majesty, and express our support for the new King."
On the day of the ceremony, Thursday, almost 5,000 people attended the ceremony. A Youtube video of the ceremony is available here.
Lloyd's will be closed on Monday 19th September. A Book of Condolence has been placed in the Underwriting Room.
Everyone at Hampden Group sends our sincerest condolences to King Charles III, The Queen Consort and all the Royal Family at this time.
