Michael Meacock, Active Underwriter Syndicate 727, 1937 - 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce that Michael Meacock, Active Underwriter of Meacock Syndicate 727, has passed away quietly at the age of 85.

Hampden has been informed that Mr Meacock's family were with him at his passing, while enjoying an annual holiday.

Syndicate 727 have notified us that Alec Taylor, Deputy Underwriter, will assume overall responsibility for underwriting on an interim basis.

Mr Meacock was the Active Underwriter of his eponymous Syndicate for over 55 years, indeed the "Father of the House" of Lloyd's. He was known for his reliability in generating a healthy return to investors in the most challenging market cycles. Syndicate 727 averaged an annual gross profit on capacity of 8.5% between 1999 - 2020.
