This Cybercrime Notice is issued by Hampden Capital PLC for and on behalf of the Hampden Group companies operation in the Lloyd’s and London Market, including Hampden Agencies Limited, Hampden Risk Partners and Nomina PLC (collectively referred to as “we” “us” and “our” in this Notice).
Cybercrime is a considerable concern for individuals, business and organisations of all sizes. To protect yourself and your sensitive information there are a number of proactive steps you can take to secure your online accounts and data.
One effective way to enhance the security of your e-mail account is through the use of “two factor authentication”. We appreciate that the email systems provided by the mainstream players such as Google, Yahoo etc., are quick and easy to set up and very user friendly. Unfortunately, most users do not take advantage of the extra layers of security provided by these providers because they require passwords or “two factor identification” involving one-time numbers sent to the user’s mobile phone.
In view of the risks involved, we do recommend that you look at the additional security protections available from your email provider – the safe links below have relevant information:
In addition to using “two-factor authentication”, it is important to use secure communication channels when sending sensitive information by e-mail. We have adopted the Egress system to ensure that all personal and confidential data we send to you is sent via encrypted e-mail. Egress ensures that only the intended recipient of the e-mail can access the email contents, reducing the risks of interception and data theft.
We recommend clients also consider using the Egress platform when communicating with us via e-mail. Further information on how to set up Egress can be found here.
Please note that for further protection any requests for changes to standing bank account data will be confirmed by your nominated contact over the telephone. If you are in any doubt, please do not send funds electronically without speaking to your nominated contact first to verify the email in question. Hampden will not accept liability for any payments into an incorrect account.
