New Deputy Chairs of Lloyd's appointments

Lloyd's announced in a Press Release available here that from 1 September Vicky Carter will become Deputy Chair of Lloyd's.

Bruce Carnegie-Brown, Chairman of Lloyd’s, said: “I’m delighted that Vicky has agreed to become Deputy Chair of Lloyd’s. This appointment recognises her extraordinary professional contribution to the Lloyd’s market and global (re)insurance industry over many decades. Her leadership will be vital as we progress our work in building the world’s most advanced insurance marketplace.”

We published a “60 seconds with…” interview with Vicky in our June 2018 Newsletter. Vicky has been in the Lloyd’s market for over 40 years and was elected to the Council in February 2019. Vicky is chairman of Guy Carpenter's global capital solutions operation - her reinsurance expertise is an excellent contribution to the Council.

Lloyd's announced in a Press Release available here that Mark Sedwill, Baron Sedwill of Sherborne, who served as Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Home Civil Service to Prime Ministers Theresa May and Boris Johnson from 2018 to September 2020, has been elected to the role of Senior Independent Director of Lloyd's Council and Deputy Chair of Lloyd's.

Lord Sedwill will bring an abundance of experience and contacts to Lloyd's. Bruce Carnegie-Brown, Chairman of Lloyd’s, said: “I’m delighted that Mark has agreed to join the Lloyd’s Council as Deputy Chair and Senior Independent Director. As one of the most respected figures in modern British diplomacy, and a former Head of the UK Civil Service, Mark brings to Lloyd’s a unique and independent perspective as we deliver against our strategic priorities. His leadership on initiatives in the areas of governance, risk management, ESG and business transformation make him an excellent choice for this role.”

Andy Haste who has been a senior independent deputy chair of Lloyd's for the past nine years is stepping down; he has chaired Lloyd's Remuneration, Investment, Technology and Transformation Committees and the Capacity Transfer Panel.
