John Cavanagh

John joined Hampden Capital in 2018 as an Independent Non-Executive Director. He has had a career in the global insurance market since 1975. John is currently Chair and Co-Founder of Beat Capital Partners, a long duration venture capital fund investing in the insurance industry. He retired as Global CEO of Willis Re (now Gallagher Re) at the end of 2017, where he was responsible for Willis Re’s worldwide operations. Prior to joining Willis in 2009, John spent 21 years at international specialty reinsurance broker RK Carvill, where he was Co-CEO. John started his career in 1975 in the reinsurance division at Alexander Howden & Swann.
